Timing a work visa request:

FSVS strongly recommends that hiring departments make every effort to submit a request to us a full 6 months in advance of their need. Incorporating enough lead time can prove crucial to minimizing anxious moments for the department, the individual, and their family members.

Initiating a work visa request:

The Department FSVS Liaison begins the request process by completing and emailing a Service Request to their designated Visa Specialist. Please view the Video Walkthrough – Initiating a case for a quick tutorial on starting a case with FSVS.

Once the Service Request is reviewed, the Visa Specialist will send the FSVS Liaison and the Foreign National instructions for the next steps. They can expect to receive separate questionnaires and document requests to complete and upload into FSVS’ Tracker online case management system. Tracker is also a convenient way for Liaisons and Foreign Nationals to follow their case progress and access case documents such as approval notices and copies of petition filings. New Tracker users will receive email instructions for creating login credentials shortly after the Service Request is reviewed.
